LOWER GUADALUPE:
3/1/06 We had to reschedule a couple of trips due to illness. The trips we ran were good. Average catch per client was 5-6 fish. The largest was a 5lb red horse sucker.
2/22/03 Things slowed down this week with Monday and Tuesday being really slow. Improvement on Wednesday and then slow again on Thursday. Yesterday was much improved with the largest about a 18" Rainbow.
02/15/06 Several trips were rescheduled due to high winds and rain. The trips that we did run were mostly good. We averaged several fish per angler, the largest for the week was an 18" rainbow. Small flies in the deeper runs were the most productive.
02/30/06 All in All a good week. We picked up more state stockers (8-10")this week as a result of the recent stocking by TPWD. The big fish are still holding in deep runs below the riffles. The largest was a 19"rainbow.
01/21/06 We still had to deal with the wind and we did have a couple of slow days. Out of a total of five days on the water 2 were slow and 3 were good. We were catching fish with smaller flies, smaller tippet and good drifts. The largest fish this week was a 19" rainbow. The average trip for the week was 8-10 fish per angler.
01/17/06 Windy, Windy, Windy. Even with the wind we had a good week. The fish are a little more wiry due to the pressure from anglers, but with smaller flies, smaller tippet and good drifts we are still picking up a good number of fish. The largest fish this week was a 21" rainbow. The average trip was 8-12 fish per angler.
01/10/06 This week has been good. We did have a couple of slow days due to the cold front moving through at the first of the week. Most fish were 16-18". We averaged 10-15 fish for a full day excursion. Still taking the small stuff, #18-22.
01/02/03 Rather than try to recap all the trips, I will just say the fishing has been great. We are catching big rainbows (18-20")and most trips have been very productive.
10/17/05 Fishing was great. I was sitting on the patio around 5:45pm, when I started to see an occasional fish rise. At first it was very sporadic. After about 5 minutes it was a consistent rise by several fish. I grabbed my rod and tied on a BWO. I picked up 4 nice bows in about 15 minutes. The largest was about 17". What a great evening.
10/15/05 Fishing was great. We netted 8 rainbow, 5 Guadalupe bass, 2 black bass and we lost count of the bream. The largest was a 19" rainbow just after sunrise.
10/12/05 Fishing was good. We broke off 3 nice rainbows and netted a couple more. We also netted several bass and lots of bream. The largest rainbow was 16".
10/10/05 Fishing was great. With the cooler water temperatures the fish are turning on. We netted 12 rainbow trout, the largest was 19".
10/7/05 We had two first time fly fishers. We had a good day. A little slow start but as they got tuned in and the casting got better we began to pick up fish. We ended up with several nice rainbow hook ups with three to the net and several other warm water species. The largest rainbow was 18".

9/30/05 Fishing was great. We picked up 3 nice rainbows right at sunrise. Further down rive we netted 5 Guadalupe Bass and tons of large bream.
9/28/05 We floated from Whitewater Sports down to Ponderosa to size up the effort to clean the river after the summer season. More on that effort a little later. In the process we saw a good number of trout. Good news this late in the summer. Cooler weather moves in this week and hopefully trout fishing will heat up. Stay tuned.
9/27/05 We fished again late in the day for striper. No striper but one catfish about 18".
9/26/05 We fished late in the afternoon for a couple of hours. The focus was on striper. We caught one 19" and broke off another.
9/20/05 Fishing was great. We netted 12 rainbows, 4 Largemouth Bass. We lost count of the bream. Great day. All of the trout were caught early and most of the bass and bream were caught in the early afternoon. Hairsear Nymph and Prince Nymph seem to be the favorite for the trout. Clowser was the most productive for the bass and bream.
8/31/05 We did a scouting trip on the Lower Guadalupe today. Fishing was a little slow. We caught a good number of bream and couple of small bass but nothing of any size. After Labor Day the tube hatch should dwindle and fishing should improve.
8/30/05 I was invited to help with the TPWD shocking to determine the health of fish in the Guadalupe. There is still a healthy population of Trout in the area I participated. We also saw many small bass and several huge carp.
Temperatures are getting into the mid 70's in the late afternoon so I recommend fishing early morning for trout and calling it quits around lunch time. Even trout that swim off after being released sometimes will be found floating later as result of lactic acid build up combined with high temperature. So fish early and practice good catch and release techniques.
6/20/05 Fishing was good. Lots of trout rising. We caught 10-12 fish on top water. We also caught several fish on nymphs in the deeper runs. The largest was a 17" rainbow.
6/13/04 I fished for a couple of hours yesterday afternoon after sundown and the water was beginning to cool. Fishing was good. I landed 6 trout, all were close to the riffles in the pocket water. The largest was 17".
6/1/05 Fishing was good. 12 to the boat. The largest was a 18" Rainbow.
